Is GM Kupchak finished this offseason? Is he satisfied with the roster revamp that has taken place thus far? Arguably, he brought in one of the top four PF's available in free agency, in Vladamir Radmonovich. The man can shoot the lights out, extend the defense, Yes!, and he gives us size. He isn't a great rebounder and he isn't a basher on defense, but his presence overshadows Cooks instantly in those categories, and we are all secretly glad he's in our locker room now.
We also added the local boy in Jordan Farmar at PG via the draft. Not a project, but also not a freshmen to veteran one year kind of journeyman. The Bruin, now Laker should improve our defense on quick guards, improve court awareness and stop the bleeding in our turnover margins. He won't shoot the lights out, and he isn't one who can take the weight of the team in precarious moments. Maybe, In two or three years he may remind us of Derek Fisher like moments.
Ask yourselves this Laker Fans. Did Kupchak do the right thing by spending our MLE on Rad, instead of saving it for Marcus Banks? Did we burn our most powerful incentive on our second greatest need (Power Forward). I believe that Farmar will help at PG, but doesn't fill the team's need in a veteran PG who can anchor this team down into playoff caliber material. Mike James, Marcus Banks, Ben Gordon, Bobby Jackson would of/ or could. The lakers aren't an A+ team in offseason acquisitions, but have room for improvement. If they want to avoid the flames of mediocrity for a third straight year, they truly need a PG who doesn't ride Kobe's back. Instead he carries his own weight with confidence and determination.
Hopefully Mitch let's go of our baggage- Brian Cook, Sasha, D. George, and Mihm. These guys aren't bad players, in fact I loved D. George's play in the old days and I think Mihm is a solid center. But we need to make a sign and trade for that PG position.
Is anyone curious that M. Banks rumors haven't been spreading? That Minnesota hasn't come clean with the public by voicing a definite resigning? Does Kupchak have something up his sleeve? If he doesn't I think he can kiss his job security goodbye.
