Ok, here we go. Hockey Krishnas unite! It’s hockey talk time. I can’t wait. I know, I know. A month away. Still. I can’t wait. The beasts of the East. No more USA vs. The World. East vs. West baby! And I can’t wait to see the East’s number one line. Crosby, Ovechkin and Malkin. Together forever. The Next One, El Ocho and Geno. Whoa Nelly! They were on the same ice two nights ago. Two nights ago in a bahn burnah. Penguin winger Erik Christensen: “What a comeback! What a game!” You said a mouthful, kid. The mano y mano match-up between Crosby and Ovechkin ended in a draw. Sir Sidney scored one goal and set up another. Ovechkin had two assists and scored the Cap’s only goal in the shootout. First Star of the game though, goes to Malkin. In the third period. In the third period, Malkin grabs the Ryan Malone rebound. Grabs the Ryan Malone rebound and puts it in behind Olie the Goalie. Goooooaaaaaaalllllllll!! Tied up. Shootout. Malkin. Goooooaaaaallllllll!! Hockey game over. Penguins win! Penguins win! These three cats are the future of hockey. Eddie Shore hockey this ain’t. From our numerology department: These three cats have been on the same ice five times this year. In all five of those games, nine goals have been scored in each. Is this some sort of eerie homage? Eerie homage to number 9? Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe? Eerie homage to number 99, The Great One, Wayne Gretzky, the very bestsky? Eerie homage or not, these guys are good. This All-Star Game is gonna be good. Real good. It may not be Lemieux and Gretzky in the Canada Cup. It may be better. So take your shoes off, put your feet up and buckle in to the 2007 NHL All-Star Game. The fastest game on earth!

Last night, Jaromir Jagr had 11 shots on goal, no points, 11 shots. It was the 14th time that Jagr reached double figures in shots on goal, the most for any active player. Jagr is in his 16th NHL season. The player who stands fourth on that list of active leaders in 10-shot games? Alexander Ovechkin. Alexander Ovechkin with nine. Alexander Ovechkin in his second season in the league. Yowza!
Penguins: Staal 18 yrs old, #2 Draft pick. Malkin 20 yrs old, #2 pick behind ovechkin, Fleury Goalie 22 #1 pick, Crosby 19 #1 pick. these cats are going to be good for a long time.
