Kip Selbach (Albert Karl Selbach) was born on March 24, 1872 in Columbus, Ohio. He made his Major League debut on April 24, 1894 for the Washington Senators. In 1894, his rookie year, he hit .306 with 7 home runs and 71 RBI. Selbach played for the Washington Senators, Cincinnati Reds, New York Giants, Baltimore Orioles and Boston Americans over the course of his 13 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Kip Selbach's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1899, when he stole 38 bases, hit for a .296 average and knocked in 87 runs. However, others believe that it was 1896, when he stole 49 bases, hit for a .304 average and knocked in 100 runs.
