Key Points in History: A Turn for the Worst

6

by user Ross K.

There are times in our lives where we witness key points in history, but do not realize it. Sometimes these key moments are a turning point towards great things, sometimes it is towards awful things to come. Sometimes, it may seem like one, but it is actually the other.

This was one of those moments

Behold, the last great thing Maurice Clarett would ever do:

Who knew at that moment that this apparent rising star was really about to suffer one of the steepest falls anyone has ever experienced?

some call it "separating the men from the boys" A wise man once told me that there are just as many great athletes NOT playing as there are playing. The difference is character, maturity and opportunities. It takes more than athletic/natural ability to succeed at the highest levels... hard work, dedication and integrity helps alot.

At first I chalked it up to character and maturity, but the more I see of Clarett, the more I'm convinced it's more complicated than that. I'll never make excuse for what he's done, but the more I see of him, the more I'm convinced that he has serious psychological and/or emotional problems that run deeper than the greed and lack of character we all chalked this stuff up to when it started. I just hope he manages to someday get the help he needs. His career as a football player may be lost, but he doesn't need to be lost as a human being.

He's disillusioned from the posse's, entourages and the hangers-on telling him how great he is...then piece by piece, the empire crumbles...the people holding you up start falling on top of you and then the adulation, admirationand hero attention is gone, he's not the golden boy anymore. He gets bitter at the world for taking it wrath against him.

Bottom Line, Dude never took responsibility for himself and that won't get you far in a capitalistic society. And he'll forever (fairly or not) be a staple in the business of mockery because of it.

Ask Isaiah "who shot" J.R. Rider... That's my "you're with me, pleather" moment of the day.

On the Columbus news tonight his lawyers were talking insanity due to panic attacks and bad medicine. What a sad, sad story.
