Key Matchups: Niners V Giants

Continuing the best Niners/Giants Coverage you'll find anywhere on the interweb here's this weeks Key match ups

Cerberus V. The Niners O-Line

Cerberus is now my official nickname for Giants three headed defensive end monster (The Gap, Osi and Tuck.) I feel like theres no way this ends well for the beleaguered Niners O-Line. Joe Staley has been by far the Niners best offensive lineman. This week he faces a tough task in Strahan. Jennings faces the explosive Osi Umensomething, who will probably draw the most double teams. Even if the Niners can game plan to stop those two I don't see how the interior of the line will keep up if the Giants go with the small quick four end front they use so much. I'll set the over under of sacks at 5. Though that number is subject to change. If the immovable object, Trent Dilfer, starts is more like 8. However if Alex Smith starts he stands a good chance of moving outside the pocket alot. Speaking of moving outside the pocket....

Jim Hostler V. The Niners Offense

I hate him. The uninformed media can blame the Niners offense woes on whoever they want but Jim is killing this team singlehandedly. Here's what the Niners need to do offense to win this week.

-Get Alex Out Of The Pocket! The pocket is going to be collapsing. That's a given. Smith has always thrown well on the run and his mobility has been one of his underrated attributes. I hope he rolls out on a majority of the plays.

-Take advantage of the Giants upfield pressure on defense!

The Niners should be running a lot of draws and counters. If I see one toss play I'm going to light myself on fire. Frank Gore hasn't forgotten how to run, the play calling is mind numbing bad. Speaking of Frank The Tank

-Get Gore lots of Touches! I don't know when Jim forgot this team is mainly a power running team. Gore needs to touch the ball about 25 times this game. We need to control the clock and keep the Giants offense off the field as much as possible. And how bout throwing alot of screen passes? Gore needs more catches out of the backfield, especially, this game since the Giants defense is so north and south.

-Lots of Two Tight End Sets. If Vernon Davis is healthy he's our best weapon in the passing game, especially since the Giants have such a degree of difficult guarding tight ends. However, The Giants can easily take a tight end out of the game by coming with so much pressure and forcing him to help block. Look what happened in the Falcons game last week, was Alge Crumpler even targeted for a pass? I want to see alot of Billy Bajamea this game. I can't believe those words just came out of my mouth.

It's not rocket science. I can't wait to coach my high school football team and turn them into a juggernaut.

Nate Clements V Plexy Glass

No more Celements is overpaid jokes. The man has proven he's been worth every penny. Plexy has been unstoppable this season but Clements might be the best corner he's faced yet. Besides the touchdown in Week 2, Woodsoon certainly contained Plexy holding him to only two catches. As a unit I think this Niners defense has been underrated. Don't expect Plexy to destroy Clements.

Expect more top notch coverage as the week continues
