Born on February 18, 1964 in Des Moines, Iowa, Kevin Tapani (Kevin Ray Tapani) played for the New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 13 year career. Tapani broke into the bigs on July 4, 1989 with the New York Mets, and put up a 4.07 ERA in 159.1 innings pitched in 1990, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Kevin Tapani's best season was 1991, when he posted a 2.99 ERA, won 16 games and struck out 135 batters.
