Kevin McHale actually remembers how not to make a bad trade

The T-Puppies and Houston Rockets have agreed to a deal in principle that sends Mike James to the Rockets for Juwan Howard straight up. The only details holding the two clubs up is whether or not to include other players, but at the least, the two will swap players straight up.

From a Wolves fan's perspective, I couldn't be happier unless This guy or this other guy, or even this slightly older guy are wearing the Green and Blue next season. We ditch one of the 4 players I want gone (James, Jaric, Hudson, Davis), and get a half decent front court player in return. Oh yeah, and McHale didn't give up another first round pick.

One down, 3 to go!!! Maybe, just maybe, I will actually care again about the Wolves.

Um, Juwan Howard sucks -- he's below average offensively and is a terrible defender. And he's got two years left on his $7 mil/year contract. Mike James is easily a better player, and his contract is only for one more season than Howard's, for less money per. Why does this trade excite you? Also, I agree with Ju, stop calling them the T-puppies.

because it eliminates one of the 4 players that has to go, we get a front court player, and if he does suck, it's for one season. Mike James sucks, and if you think otherwise, you haven't watched him play in Minnesota.

James may be selfish and somewhat mentally imbalanced, but I guarantee that he'd be better in Year 2 with the Wolves... In Toronto, James proved that he can be a very valuable offensive player, while Howard gives Minny nothing but an expiring contract -- which would be nice if they were building long-term, but K.G. is only under contract for one more year. Is this a signal that they've given up on winning with Garnett?

who cares? We get rid of a guard, which means Randy Foye will likely Start. Oh, and not only do we dump one of the players that needs to go, but McHale hasn't given up a Draft Pick in this trade

This has to be about the definition of a meaningless trade for the Wolves. I guess it is good in that they got rid of a guy who is not part of the future and would probably have sulked and been disruptive, but Juwan Howard is a "last piece of the puzzle" guy on a stacked team like Dallas or San Antonio. I don't see how he helps the wolves unless they get a lot more help in short order. Still, not terrible. The real problem is it is a real gift to the Rockets. James fits perfectly there and he makes them a much better team. probably not a huge loss for the Pups, but they just made another western team even better and really got very little for it. Why does McHale still have a job?

and again. Randy Foye > Mike James. Howard at least gives us another forward who if he doesn't pan out, is gone at the end of the year. I say give Houston James, T-Hud, Davis, and Jaric for whatever they will give them. Or as many of those guys as they can dump
