Born on December 6, 1967 in Lancaster, California, Kevin Appier (Robert Kevin Appier) played for the Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics, New York Mets and Anaheim Angels over the course of his 16 year career. Appier broke into the bigs on June 4, 1989 with the Kansas City Royals, and put up a 2.76 ERA in 185.2 innings pitched in 1990, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Kevin Appier's best season was 1993, when he posted a 2.56 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 186 batters.
