Kerr on Garnett and Amare untradable?

Man. Phoenix is abuzz with trade rumors. Not only that, radio hosts are fighting over whether to trade Amare in the KG deal or whether this should get done at all. Well I say, let the rumors, the talks, the craziness be. The Suns have the advantage here. KG wants to come here and Minnesota wants to get rid of him. Just make it happen without giving up Amare. Please Steve. Please.

I think Garnett's a better player overall, but in Phoenix's system I'd say the two are interchangable. Plus, Amare's much younger, so a KG-for-Amare deal wouldn't be wise on the Suns part. I don't see how they could get him from Minnesota without dealing Stoudemire.

There's no way that a franchise in their right mind would trade KG without asking for Amare Stoudamire. But then again, this is the Minnesota Timberwolves and based on their recent history {Kevin Mchale}, they're rarely in their right mind.

On one hand, you don't want to trade young for old as JakeLloyd points out. However, while the upgrade on offense might not be huge, Garentt does things on defense that Stourdemire can only dream of. I think making this deal is risky, but there's a good chance it could be what gets Phoenix over the hump.

I think that Garnett for Amare is actually a smart trade. Think about it. Steve Nash is 33 years old. If Phoenix is going to win a championship with him, it has to be now. Amare is great but he hasn't peaked. Garnett is at that level, and he would help them become a lock for the championship.
