Kenny Wheaton (Kenneth Tyrone Wheaton) was born on March 8, 1975 in Phoenix, Arizona. After going to high school at McClintock (Tempe, AZ), Wheaton attended the University of Oregon. Wheaton made his professional debut in the NFL in 1997 with the Dallas Cowboys. He played for the Dallas Cowboys for his entire 3 year NFL career.

Most people believe that 1998 was Kenny Wheaton's best year, as he ran back a fumble for a touchdown.

Acquired:

Signed as a free agent with Toronto on April 14, 2003.

Career Accomplishments:

• Grey Cup Champion: 2004
• CFL All-Star: 2007
• Division All-Star: 2007, 2006, 2005

2004-2007:

Toronto Argonauts

2007:

Wheaton intercepted four passes in 2007, including one returned 84 yards for a touchdown. He was fourth on the team in defensive tackles with 71, forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles. Wheaton also contributed six pass knockdowns.

2006:

Named East Division All-Star for second consecutive season…Led the team in tackles.

2005:

Named East Division All-Star for first time in his career at DB.

2004:

Dressed in both pre-season games...made 2 DT in first game at Ivor Wynne...tallied 5 DT in second game at SkyDome...Started primarily at weak side DB in 15 regular season games.

2003:

Toronto Argonauts
Colorado Crush

Attended the inaugural training camp for the AFL's Colorado Crush and was released on January 23...Signed as a free-agent with the Argonauts on April 16...played in 18 games with the Argos...played in both of Toronto's pre-season victories over Hamilton.

2002:

Played in nine games, starting six of them for the Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League after signing as a free- agent on May 8...finished second on the team in defensive tackles with 32...also made six assisted tackles, five pass knockdowns, two interceptions and one fumble recovery.

Saw action in five games during the regular season for the NFL's Dallas Cowboys...made 8 total tackles.

1998:

In his second year with the Dallas Cowboys, he appeared in 15 regular-season games...while seeing the majority of his action on special teams and in nickel passing situations, Wheaton finished the season with 36 tackles...also picked up his first career interception, forced a fumble and recovered two others.

1997:

Played in two games for the Dallas Cowboys during the regular season after they selected him in the 3rd round (94th overall) of the 1997 NFL Draft.

Oregon Ducks

Wheaton played three seasons with the University of Oregon Ducks from 1994 through 1996...an All-Pac 10 selection as a senior, Wheaton led the team with 73 tackles as a cornerback...also broke up a career-high 15 passes, including two interceptions...Wheaton was a big-play corner for the Oregon Ducks, posting an interception return of 70 or more yards in each of his three seasons...during his college career, he gained 380 yards on interception returns, to break a 49-year old record...had 10 career interceptions and 194 tackles, including a team-high 73 as a senior...after red-shirting as a freshman, Wheaton was a 2nd Team All-Pac 10 selection as a sophomore...twice earned Pac 10 Defensive Player of the Week honours and was a recipient of the Casanova Award, given to the team's top first year player.

Personal:

A sociology major in college, Kenny enjoys playing video games, basketball and listening to R&B music in his down-time. He hopes to coach in the future and would choose to meet Michael Jordan if he could meet anyone in the world. His mentor is his older brother.
