Well my wildest dream has come true. I never thought I'd see Kenny Lofton back in the wahoo gear. There was such a large walk up crowd at the Jake the first Friday he played, and he is still recieving standing ovations every time he comes up to the tune of "Big Things Poppin" by T.I. And the Cleveland fans love him, and why should'nt they,he helped almost bring us a championship, he has 450 stolen bases in a Cleveland uniform.
Lofton was argueably the best centerfielder and leadoff hitter of the 90's. Chants of "Grady who?"(in reference to Grady Sizemore)could be heard from my row. Lofton jerseys are going like water at the stadium and local team shops. His spot in the batting order and the line-up may be different, but the familiar 7 on his back brings back so many great memories of the so called "Glory Days" of the 90's.
Lofton helps a ton in a mediocre Cleveland Indians outfield, with the exception of Grady Sizemore. We got a 300 hitter, speed that strikes fear into the eyes of apposing pitchers even at age 40,and a man who could sell out Jacobs Field by himself. There's something in the air at Jacobs Field now, something many of us haven't felt since 2001,the last time the Tribe was in the post season, and the last time we had Kenny Lofton.
