Ken Stabler (Ken Michael Stabler) was born on December 25, 1945 in Foley, Alabama. After going to high school at Foley (AL), Stabler attended the University of Alabama. Stabler made his professional debut in the NFL in 1970 with the Oakland Raiders. He played for the Oakland Raiders, New Orleans Saints and Houston Oilers over the course of his 15 year career.
Stabler led the Raiders to the AFC Championship game following each of the seasons from 1973 to 1977. In 1976, he led the Raiders to a 13 and 1 regular season and a Super Bowl victory over the Minnesota Vikings. The season featured two wins over the rival Pittsburgh Steelers, including a week one win in which Stabler led a furious comeback late in the game against what many consder among the best NFL defenses ever (the 76 Steelers).
Most people believe that 1979 was Ken Stabler's best year, as he threw for 3615 yards and tossed 26 TDs.
