Born on August 8, 1917 in York, Pennsylvania, Ken Raffensberger (Kenneth David Raffensberger) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 15 year career. Raffensberger broke into the bigs on April 25, 1939 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 3.38 ERA in 114.2 innings pitched in 1940, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ken Raffensberger's best season was 1952, when he posted a 2.81 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 93 batters.
