Born on October 14, 1915 in Peruque, Missouri, Ken Heintzelman (Kenneth Alphonse Heintzelman) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 13 year career. Heintzelman broke into the bigs on October 3, 1937 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 4.47 ERA in 165 innings pitched in 1940, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ken Heintzelman's best season was 1949, when he posted a 3.02 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 65 batters.
