Born on February 19, 1959 in Newport News, Virginia, Keith Atherton (Keith Rowe Atherton) played for the Oakland Athletics, Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 7 year career. Atherton broke into the bigs on July 14, 1983 with the Oakland Athletics, and put up a 2.77 ERA in 68.1 innings pitched in 1983, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Keith Atherton's best season was 1986, when he posted a 4.08 ERA, notched 10 saves and struck out 67 batters.
