Kazmir on Record Setting Pace

MLB.com is reporting something New York Mets' fans will love to hear..Scott Kazmir is on a record setting strikeout pace. With his start on Monday, he needs only 5 K's to be the 23rd left handed pitcher since 1900 to reach 300 strikeouts before turning 23 years old. He is actually on pace to be the 11th southpaw to strike out 400 batters before turning 23.

All Mets fans, as I am, can look at this with a sardonic smile and a teary eye as we watch the great Victor Zambrano spend more time on the DL.

No way BBall, Think about the level this puts him on. I think the point of the article is to say, he's gonna be real special. This guy could be the ace on a lot of staffs. Total Props Wrights, its stunning that this guy still has a job in baseball, of course, he's still better than Jim Phillips and ESPN is paying that guy for info...

I gotta agree....you can't set a record if 22 guys have already done it. It does look like he's on his way to a pretty good career though.

I realize he is on his way to something special. Kazmir is one of my favorite pitchers and I have been looking forward to watching him pitch since he was a promising prospect with the Mets. He just is not on any record-SETTING pace.
