Rookie Jered Weaver won his fourth start out of four chances as the Angels defeated the Royals 4-1 on Tuesday. Weaver gave up one unearned run on 5 hits while striking out 5 in seven innings of work. He was responsible for the run, however, when he failed to properly cover 1st on an infield grounder. Kendry Morales was charged with the error that allowed Doug Mientkiewicz to score from 2nd, but it was really the inexperience of Weaver that caused the problem. Orlando Cabrera continued his hot streak with 2 hits and an RBI (39). Vlady (52), Figgins (21), and Erstad (5) also drove in runs for the Angels. Scot Shields pitched a perfect 8th for his 12th hold, and KRod picked up his 15th save with a perfect 9th. Brandon Duckworth(L, 0-1) took the loss in his first start for the Royals since being acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.
