KG to LA?

Apparently the hot KG/Kobe rumor of the moment is that they might pair up.  The deal is a complicated 4 team deal being reported at espn.com.

Why would the T-Wolves want to make the Lakers that much better?

Even better, why would the T-Wolves trade Garnett when the best player they were getting in return is a skinny bench player whos only claim to fame is winning a slamdunk constest?

Why?  Because he's Kevin McHale, that's why.

McHale = Idiot He shouldn't have managed a team. He should've just been remembered as a good basketball player...simply put

History is proving you right. It's a shame too because he is unarguably one of the greatest forwards of all time. If Bird had not kept him somewhat in the shadow he would even be more respected. Now people are going to remember him and Isaiah and Ainge just for being moronic GMs.

This would be a good deal for LA and Minnesota but horrible for Boston considering they would only get Jermaine O'Neal

Really? You don't like that deal for Boston? If you can't get KG or Marion because they don't want to play there, what available player fits better with Pierce? Unless you think they should trade Pierce and start completely over putting JO out there with Pierce and Jefferson puts you in the hunt in the East for 2-3 years especially if Rondo develops. Not sure why Boston would even hesitate.

O'Neal hasnt had a decent season in 3 years. He would be an improvement in the middle for Boston but he is not the guy to lift a team up even with the help of Pierce. I also question O'Neals durability. They should test the water with that 5 pick. Minnesota gets the best in this deal. A 5 and a 7 pick is not bad at all

Valid points. I still think it is pretty tough if Minny has to sell its fans on draft picks. I think they need at least one name guy back. JO has all the issues you mention, no doubt, but of the guys who are apparently available that they could get without moving Pierce or Jefferson, who is better?

What're the details of the rumor? All I saw was Bynum and Odom to Indiana.

Here's what I hear: Odom and Bynum to Indiana. JO to Boston. KG to LA. LA's number one this year, Boston's 5 pick, Telfair, G. Green, Ratliff (contract) and unnamed scraps to Minny. Word is that Boston will only do the deal if it doesn't involved Al Jefferson and that might make the pot to thin for the Wolves. One plus for the Wolves is that it would send them way way way under the cap for next year's FA market. I still don't think that's enough, but there you go.

I wonder if the Lakers think bringing in Garnett would make Kobe change his mind and stick around. If it did, that makes for a powerful one-two in Los Angeles. If not, and from what I hear, this deal would do nothing to change Bryant's mind about wanting out, then the Lakers are pretty much where they already are ... the No. 8 seed in the West.

This is exactly what makes the trade make sense for LA. It is the only shot to keep Kobe and even if Kobe jets, they are left with KG and spare parts instead of Odom and spare parts. If they trade Kobe, they wouldn't get KG back because Kobe would nix a trade to the KGless Wolves. LA has to deal for Garnet because best case he lets them keep Kobe and worst case, they have a bankable star with a couple years of prime left to buy them time to figure out what the heck they are doing.

This deal is not going to happen. As I have said in the past, both KG and Kobe will be on their current teams come the start of the 2007-2008 NBA season.

Kobe + Garnett on the court = dangerous powerhouse. Off the court, we'll see though. Is that gonna happen? I'd normally say no but this IS McHowthehellisheGMHale?

Good point, though I wouldn't go so far as to say "power house." I mean, they would be dangerous, but would you take them ahead of Dallas, SA and Phoenix? Probably not.

Why do billionaire NBA owners leave their franchises in the hands of jackasses like McHale or Thomas? No wonder David "Darth" Stern runs his league like a daycare facility.

No love for Stern? Come on. Dude took the league from the brink to the only thing competing with the NFL. I hear you on Thomas and Mchale, but Stern? My only beef with him is not giving us H-O-R-S-E in the all-star game yet
