Here’s another weird debate, or cool, take your pick. Name athletes from the major sports you’d like to see crossover and try their hand at another sport.
There’s two NBA guys I immediately think of that would be good at football. Shaq is a behemoth with unbelievably quick feet and raw power. I’d love to see him line up at right defensive end and rush around or through left tackles. Ben Wallace is an unreal athlete who possesses speed, quickness, and power. He’d look real mean at defensive end.
From hockey I’d love to see Scott Stevens play linebacker. He would put the fear of God in opposing offenses.
Wouldn’t you love to see how baseball’s best athlete, Alex Rodriguez or Barry Bonds & Ken Griffey Jr. in their primes (Bo Jackson was the best pure athlete I ever saw but he already did the dual-sports gig), would fair in the NFL?
Maybe a warrior like Steve McNair would’ve made a good hockey player.
If Terrell Owens could shoot it would be interesting to see him going against guys like Ron Artest or Tayshaun Prince.
Don’t you ever wonder what could have been if Allen Iverson had played quarterback instead, or not gotten into a bowling alley brawl? Bobby Bowden sure does, after all he was Mr. Football and Basketball his senior year in high school, All-American in both sports.
I wonder if LeBron James or Dwayne Wade could take a pounding at running back?
Do you think Steve Smith’s water bug act would work in the NHL?
Jaromir playing baseball…just kidding.
Bet a guy who can rag the puck like Peter Forsberg or Mike Modano could hit a curve ball, maybe.
Amare Stoudemire and Emeka Okefor at D-end, scary.
If only Kevin Garnett had a 95mph fastball…hmmmmmmm.
Retro crossovers…
Lawrence Taylor manning the blue line; Dick Butkus at power forward; Dave Winfield playing tight end; John Elway at third base; Ronnie Lott as a defenseman in hockey; Grant Hill at quarterback (beautiful pass to Laettner); Magic and Bird dueling it out, “Magic has a full count, Bird winds up”; any of the Steelers Hall of Fame defenders playing hockey.
