Jump on the Waiver Wire Boys

As a fantasy football player I found it odd that the Lions would not put Kevin Jones on the PUP list before the season. With news now coming out that Kevin Jones could be available as early as next week in the backfield for the Lions I now have a clearer picture of why. Quite simply, the Lions obviously love Kevin Jones and want him on the field as soon as possible. This speaks volumes about their opinion of Tatum Bell, and even more about Jones' fantasy value to a lineup when he returns.
As Kevin has always had a knack of, he showed glimpses of the greatness he can bring in a Mike Martz offense. Martz is going to keep four receivers on the field at almost all times, spreading the field for the running game. On top of that, with the respect that Roy Williams, Calvin Johnson, Shaun McDonald, and Mike Furrey demand from a secondary it is almost assured that Kevin Jones can get one on one with a linebacker in space in the passing game. In short, if you don't have Kevin Jones on your roster yet and he's still available on your waiver wire, jump on it now. Not to mention that the Lions will just be plain better on offense with Jones in the backfield instead of Tatum Bell, who, let's face it, is a walking fumble and injury waiting to happen (not that the same can't be said of Kevin Jones).
Chris Brown, obviously, was a hot commodity on the waiver wire this past week with his performance against the Jags usually stout run defense. I have a reccomendation for everyone that picked him up this week. While he still has some value trade him. Chris Brown found lightning in a bottle for one week, he stinks. Don't be one of the many that are fooled.
Derrick Ward is definitely worth having as a 3rd running back. On top of the fact that he is backing up a guy who runs way to high to stay helthy in this league he's going to find the field in third down and passing situations for the Giants anyway. I even think that within a year, depending on the circumstances with the team, he could be at least splitting the carries with Brandon Jacobs anyway. He is ideal for that Flex position on a fantasy roster.
Michael Pittman, pick him up. Carnell Williams after blazing into the league has been banged up ever since, and if there's anything a runner who likes to slam his way through opponents instead of running around them doesn't need it's sore ribs. Pittman, who seems to have been around since the dawn of football, has value because no one really knows what Williams can give. If nothing else Williams' owners should get Pittman as a handicap.
At Wide Receiver if you are in a league where no one drafted Santonio Holmes it's time to make your move. I know it was Clevelend, but the game made it obvious that Holmes may finally be ready to be the deep threat the Steelers were hoping he would be last year. Alot of people avoided the Steelers passing game because of Big Ben's numbers last season but if you ask me it was a mirage. Ben is better than that and he will show it this season.
Other WR's to consider: Ronald Curry, Shaun McDonald, Bobby Wade, and John Broussard(he will be a starter in Jax within the next 4-5 weeks)
