July 17 NBA Roundup

There were quite a few developments around the league yesterday.
Paul Pierce signed a contract extension to stay a Celtic. It is for 3 years and $60 million.
The Wizards have signed F Darius Songaila for 5 years and $23 million. It is an outstanding pickup for them as he should start next year.
Former Hornets G J.R. Smith has now been traded from Chicago to Denver for G Howard Eisley and two future 2nd round picks.
And in the summer league, a possible star could be in the making. Long Beach State star G Jibril Hodges had the monster game of the summer league so far with 42 points and 10 assists. The summer league is certainly not strong competition, but any player who can score 40 and still get 10 assists should be on an NBA roster.
