Born on October 13, 1968 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Julio Valera (Julio Enrique (Torres) Valera) played for the New York Mets, California Angels and Kansas City Royals over the course of his 5 year career. Valera broke into the bigs on September 1, 1990 with the New York Mets, and put up a 3.73 ERA in 188 innings pitched in 1992, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Julio Valera's best season was 1992, when he posted a 3.73 ERA and struck out 113 batters.
