Born on November 30, 1954 in Aguadulce, Panama, Juan Berenguer (Juan Bautista Berenguer) played for the New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers, San Francisco Giants, Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves over the course of his 15 year career. Berenguer broke into the bigs on August 17, 1978 with the New York Mets, and put up a 5.26 ERA in 90.2 innings pitched in 1981, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Juan Berenguer's best season was 1983, when he posted a 3.14 ERA and struck out 129 batters.
