Born on July 30, 1922 in Medford, Massachusetts, Joe Coleman (Joseph Patrick Coleman) played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Baltimore Orioles and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 10 year career. Coleman broke into the bigs on September 19, 1942 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 4.32 ERA in 160.1 innings pitched in 1947, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Joe Coleman's best season was 1954, when he posted a 3.50 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 103 batters.
