Jorge Orta (Jorge (Nunez) Orta) was born on November 26, 1950 in Mazatlan, Sinaloa (Mexico). He made his Major League debut on April 15, 1972 for the Chicago White Sox. In 1973, his rookie year, he hit .266 with 6 home runs and 40 RBI. Orta played for the Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Dodgers, Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals over the course of his 16 year career.

Most people believe that Jorge Orta's best season was 1976, when he knocked in 72 runs.
