Born on January 24, 1934 in Natoma, California, John Briggs (Jonathan Tift Briggs) played for the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Athletics over the course of his 5 year career. Briggs broke into the bigs on April 17, 1956 with the Chicago Cubs, and put up a 4.52 ERA in 95.2 innings pitched in 1958, his rookie year.
