Born on January 19, 1950 in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Jon Matlack (Jonathan Trumpbour Matlack) played for the New York Mets and Texas Rangers over the course of his 13 year career. Matlack broke into the bigs on July 11, 1971 with the New York Mets, and put up a 2.32 ERA in 244 innings pitched in 1972, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Jon Matlack's best season was 1978, when he posted a 2.27 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 157 batters.
