Jon Kitna is somewhat insane

Detroit Lions QB Jon Kitna said that the Detroit Lions are going to win 10 plus games in the 2007 NFL Season. Let's look at that schedule before jumping to conclusions.

The * indicates that the team was either in the playoffs, or in contention coming into week 17 of last year. They are facing 8 teams that were in contention or in the playoffs in 10 of the 16 games! If I were Jon Kitna, I wouldn't be making predictions like that. Roy Williams made that stupid statement saying the Lions would score 40 points on the Chicago Bears in week 2 of the 2006 season, and scored a whopping 7 points.

Anyway, Jon Kitna, I think you've been sacked one too many times to come up with that one. If you guys win 10 games next season, I'll demand that for every comment I make on Armchair, I continuously get minuses.

I think they can win 10 games, if you include pre-season and 2-on-2 Madden 2007 matchups versus Madden and Michaels.

I have been predicting a good year from the Lions for the past 3 years. This was mainly due to the very weak division in which the Lions play.

With that said, yes, I can see the Lions winning ten this year. Will they? More than likely no.

You can chalk up one loss for sure - against the Eagles!

I said this before...its possible...Sweep the Vikings and Packers (4)...AFC West wins versus Oakland and KC (6), NFC East taking 2 of 4 from the Eagles, Giants, Skins, Cowboys (8) and beating the cards and bucs (10)...Is it going to happen...probably not...is it possible...yeah...

the one really nice thing about the eagles for the past 7 years or so is...in the regular season...they beat the teams they're supposed to...it might be a bad game or a grind out game...but they beat all those crap teams that they need to...the lions probably won't be any different...

A bunch of Lions fans on another forum say that the Kittens will beat the Bears by two or more touchdowns because of Tank's demise. That makes a lot of sense. I mean, one guy (like their first round draft pick) does make ALL of the difference in the NFL on any given Sunday. RIght???

I don't get why what Kitna said is news. Doesn't every NFL starting QB think his team is going to win? Would you want one that doesn't? Why is this even a story. I bet Jeff Garcia believes the Bucs are a 10 win team too or at least would say that publicly and that ain't going to happen either, but who cares? When you find a QB who says, "I don't think we can beat anyone this year" then you have a story.

Being a Lions fan, realistically, I see 6 wins... but 10? Let's not go that high Kitna... I would be exremely happy with an 8-8 missing the playoff season... but let's be real here... this IS the LIONS we're talking about here - and it's not even a yr after an ambismal 3-13 season... did all the draft & off-season moves get them an additional 7 wins? No... 3? Sure...

Fear not Demonboy, Matt Millen will not rest until this team will at least duplicate 3-13 (hell, that would be progress for the Lions, wouldn't it?). Millen is probably working the phones right now in a furious attempt to outbid himself for the services of Tank Johnson.

I think Millen must have walked in on a member of the Ford family in a room with a dead stripper or something. There is no other plausible explanation for him still having a job. I hope that I am as good in my future writing career as Millen is bad at being a GM.

Stumptown... I totally agree with you. I want my quarterback to think that we're going to win 10 games... I don't care if he's right or not. This isn't even a story, and I think that this statement is purely a showing of confidence. The fact that he said it publicly just reinforces his belief that it's true. Realistically, the Lions really just need to decrease turnovers and play more consistently on D. They do that... and 10 wins doesn't seem that far off. Of course Kitna needs to make sure he doesn't cause too many of those turnovers.

Probably because 10 is almost guaranteed to get you into the playoffs. This is especially true in the NFC, where the Giants made the playoffs with an 8-8 record.
