Johnny Watwood (John Clifford Watwood) was born on August 17, 1905 in Alexander City, Alabama. He made his Major League debut on April 16, 1929 for the Chicago White Sox. In 1929, his rookie year, he hit .302 with 2 home runs and 28 RBI. Watwood played for the Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that Johnny Watwood's best season was 1930, when he hit for a .302 average and knocked in 51 runs.
