Johnny Mitchell (John Franklin Mitchell) was born on August 9, 1894 in Detroit, Michigan. He made his Major League debut on May 21, 1921 for the New York Yankees. In 1922, his rookie year, he hit .246 with 1 home run and 8 RBI. Mitchell played for the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Brooklyn Robins over the course of his 5 year career.
