[edit] Biography

Born on October 17, 1927 in Washington, D.C., Johnny Klippstein (John Calvin Klippstein) played for the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators, Philadelphia Phillies, Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 18 year career. Klippstein broke into the bigs on May 3, 1950 with the Chicago Cubs, and put up a 5.25 ERA in 104.2 innings pitched in 1950, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Johnny Klippstein's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1965, when he posted a 2.24 ERA and struck out 59 batters. However, others believe that it was 1963, when he posted a 1.93 ERA and struck out 86 batters.
