Johnny Bassler (John Landis Bassler) was born on June 3, 1895 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on July 11, 1913 for the Cleveland Naps. In 1921, his rookie year, he hit .307 with 0 home runs and 56 RBI. Bassler played for the Cleveland Naps and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 9 year career.
Most people believe that Johnny Bassler's best season was 1924, when he hit for a .346 average and knocked in 68 runs.
