Johnie Cooks (Johnie Earl Cooks) was born on November 23, 1958 in Leland, Mississippi. After going to high school at Leland (MS), Cooks attended Mississippi State University. Cooks made his professional debut in the NFL in 1982 with the Baltimore Colts. He played for the Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants, Baltimore Colts and Cleveland Browns over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that 1984 was Johnie Cooks's best year, as he recorded 11.5 sacks.
