John Wittenborn (John Otis Wittenborn) was born on March 1, 1936 in Sparta, Illinois. After going to high school at Sparta (IL), Wittenborn attended Southeast Missouri State University. Wittenborn made his professional debut in the NFL in 1958 with the San Francisco 49ers. He played in the NFL for 5 years, playing for the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles over the course of his 5 year NFL career.Wittenborn also played in the AFL for 5 years, playing for the Houston Oilers the entire time.

Most people believe that 1967 was John Wittenborn's best year.
