John Wager (John B. Wager) was born on April 26, 1905 in , OH. After going to high school at Mount Carmel (IL), Wager attended Carthage College. Wager made his professional debut in the NFL in 1931 with the Portsmouth Spartans. He played for the Portsmouth Spartans for his entire 5 year career.
