John Tavener (John Harold Tavener) was born on January 10, 1921 in Newark, Ohio. After going to high school at Johnstown (OH), Tavener attended Indiana University. Tavener made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1946 with the Miami Seahawks. He played for the Miami Seahawks for his entire 1 year career.
