John Small (John Kenneth Small) was born on November 20, 1946 in Lumberton, North Carolina. After going to high school at Richmond Academy (Augusta, GA), Small attended The Citadel. Small made his professional debut in the NFL in 1970 with the Atlanta Falcons. He played for the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that 1971 was John Small's best year.
