John Shirk (John F. Shirk) was born on June 24, 1917 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After going to high school at Central (Oklahoma City, OK), Shirk attended the University of Oklahoma. Shirk made his professional debut in the NFL in 1940 with the Chicago Cardinals. He played for the Chicago Cardinals for his entire 1 year career.
