John Shinners (John Joseph Shinners) was born on March 1, 1947 in Hartford, Wisconsin. After going to high school at Campion Prep (Prairie de Chien, WI), Shinners attended Xavier University. Shinners made his professional debut in the NFL in 1969 with the New Orleans Saints. He played for the Cincinnati Bengals, New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Colts over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that 1971 was John Shinners's best year.
