Born on November 21, 1971 in Southern Pines, North Carolina, John Roper (John Christopher Roper) played for the Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants over the course of his 3 year career. Roper broke into the bigs on May 16, 1993 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 5.62 ERA in 80 innings pitched in 1993, his rookie year.
