John Rainey (John Paul Rainey) was born on July 26, 1864 in Birmingham, Michigan. He made his Major League debut on August 25, 1887 for the New York Gothams. In 1890, his rookie year, he hit .235 with 1 home run and 20 RBI. Rainey played for the New York Gothams and Buffalo Bisons over the course of his 2 year career.
