John Olerud (John Garrett Olerud) was born on August 5, 1968 in Seattle, Washington. He made his Major League debut on September 3, 1989 for the Toronto Blue Jays. In 1990, his rookie year, he hit .265 with 14 home runs and 48 RBI. Olerud played for the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets, Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 17 year career.

Most people believe that John Olerud's best season was 1993, when he slugged 24 home runs, hit for a .363 average and knocked in 107 runs.
