Born on May 25, 1950 in Long Branch, New Jersey, John Montefusco (John Joseph Montefusco) played for the San Francisco Giants, Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres and New York Yankees over the course of his 13 year career. Montefusco broke into the bigs on September 3, 1974 with the San Francisco Giants, and put up a 2.88 ERA in 243.2 innings pitched in 1975, his rookie year.

Most people believe that John Montefusco's best season was 1975, when he posted a 2.88 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 215 batters.
