John McKelvey (John Wellington McKelvey) was born on August 27, 1847 in Rochester, New York. He made his Major League debut on April 19, 1875 for the New Haven Elm Citys. In 1875, his rookie year, he hit .229 with 0 home runs and 10 RBI. McKelvey played for the New Haven Elm Citys for his entire 1 year career.
