John Matisi (John Bernard Matisi) was born on November 2, 1920 in New York, New York. After going to high school at Union-Endicott (NY), Matisi attended Duquesne University. Matisi made his professional debut in the NFL in 1943 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers the entire time. Matisi also played in the AAFC for 1 year, playing for the Buffalo Bisons the entire time.

Most people believe that 1943 was John Matisi's best year.
