For me, one of the biggest, is John Madden’s voice coming out of my tv. Welcome back to my (ungodly hot) living room John, I’ve missed you so since last season ended.
Fewer broadcasters in the game have such an impact on the sport. Keith Jackson did for NCAA broadcasting. But Madden is in a class of his own. He’s been a student of the game his entire life and has a mastery of both the game, the coaching and the pure entertainment levels of the sport that no one else can touch. His humor is broad and light enough that is does not distract from the broadcasting of the game and he can be politically correct without seeming like he’s being politically correct. John Madden is Santa Claus for us football fans. He brings our favorite sport into our homes once a week gift wrapped in just the right way.
When John Madden is on my TV, all is right in my world.
