John Kruk (John Martin Kruk) was born on February 9, 1961 in Charleston, West Virginia. He made his Major League debut on April 7, 1986 for the San Diego Padres. In 1986, his rookie year, he hit .309 with 4 home runs and 38 RBI. Kruk played for the San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 10 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was John Kruk's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1993, when he hit for a .316 average and knocked in 85 runs. However, others believe that it was 1987, when he slugged 20 home runs, hit for a .313 average and knocked in 91 runs.
