John Heldt (John Claussen Heldt) was born on December 2, 1899 in Claumet, Michigan. After going to high school at East Detroit (Eastpointe, MI), Heldt attended the University of Iowa. Heldt made his professional debut in the NFL in 1923 with the Columbus Tigers. He played for the Columbus Tigers for his entire 2 year career.
