John Haines (John Yancy Haines) was born on December 16, 1961 in Fort Worth, Texas. After going to high school at Arlington Heights (Fort Worth, TX), Haines attended the University of Texas. Haines made his professional debut in the NFL in 1984 with the Minnesota Vikings. He played for the Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings over the course of his 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1984 was John Haines's best year.
