Born on August 4, 1962 in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey, John Farrell (John Edward Farrell) played for the Cleveland Indians, California Angels and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 8 year career. Farrell broke into the bigs on August 18, 1987 with the Cleveland Indians, and put up a 3.39 ERA in 69 innings pitched in 1987, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was John Farrell's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1988, when he posted a 4.24 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 92 batters. However, others believe that it was 1989, when he posted a 3.63 ERA and struck out 132 batters.
